Industrial Plankton is a dynamic company that loves to innovate, build, and support the industries we work with: aquaculture, biotech, and research. We design, manufacture, and support high-tech bioreactors that allow our worldwide customers to easily grow live plankton on-site. We are located in Victoria near Uptown Mall, just off the Galloping Goose Trail.

About the Job

We are looking for an organized and efficient individual who loves to build and get stuff done! The Electronics Technician has a wide variety of responsibilities creating a diverse work week while being specific enough for the individual to become an expert in our power electronics and control. The successful candidate does not need specialty experience in aquaculture or bioreactors, but an understanding of electrical circuitry and power electronics is mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical assembly following production guidelines and specifications. Production and assembly items include:
    • Assembling control box enclosures
    • Wiring and assembling LED lighting
    • Quality assurance inspection and testing of electrical assemblies
  • Design, prototype, and prepare assembly instruction for wiring harness, PCBs, and control panel enclosures
  • Revision control and maintenance of production documentation
  • Participate in problem solving and process improvements
  • Improve production documentation and procedures
  • Maintain a clean workstation, tools, and production floor
  • Perform other tasks as required

Requirements

  • Use critical thinking to identify assembly issues and find solutions
  • Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with AC and DC wiring
  • Experience hand soldering surface mount and through hole components on PCBs
  • Adept at trouble shooting with multimeters and other testing equipment
  • Work under minimum supervision in a team and independently
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Follow health and safety standards

Applicant Attributes

  • Experience with Electrical Power and Distribution Panels
  • Experience with oscilloscopes
  • Familiar with manufacturing environments
  • Able to multitask and manage priorities

Additional Information

  • A standard work week is 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday
  • Reports to the Production and Operations Manager
  • Compensation will vary depending on experience and qualifications.
