Curious About Shellfish Aquaculture?

The Raincoast Education Society presents The Magnificent Mollusks Speaker Series. March 9th the guest speakers will be J.P. Hastey & Angela Fortune of Nova Harvest Ltd. located in Bamfield BC.

It will be an open discussion about opportunities, challenges, and the potential for shellfish aquaculture in British Columbia. J.P will also take the viewers on a behind the scenes tour of the commercial shellfish hatchery at Nova Harvest.

J.P founded Nova Harvest in 2011 and believes in science-based solutions. He has a BC in Biology and a Master’s degree in Animal Science. Hatchery International Magazine named J.P. as one of the Top 10 under 40 in the industry.

Angela is the hatchery manager at Nova Harvest. She holds a Masters in Science at studied integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA). Angela enjoys working with shellfish not only because they are delicious, but because they are a sustainable protein source and have a positive impact on the environment.

Nova Harvest uses Industrial Plankton’s algae photobioreactors to produce live feed in their hatchery. Register for this virtual presentation to see these bioreactors in action!
